My 26th birthday, and a few other bits :)

Ciao peeps! I’ve been saving up lots of vegan-related things over the past month, to talk about in one post. Last Saturday was my 26th birthday (yikes!) and I spent the weekend in Brighton, which turned out to be lovely and sunny in amongst all the rain we’ve been having 🙂 Alex treated me to a birthday lunch of my choice, and we tried a bar/diner called Beelzebab (which I will add to the Shops & eateries page) in central Brighton which did lots of vegan fast-food items such as loaded fries, hot dogs and kebabs. We ended up ordering way too much, but thankfully they provided takeaway boxes! Here is their website.

Btw apologies for the terrible photo quality throughout this blog post – I was more focused on enjoying the food than capturing it perfectly 😉 But they at least give you some idea…

Alex also bought us a delicious cupcake each from The Loving Hut (which I have mentioned in a previous Brighton-related blog post). I ate mine whilst watching Shane Dawson’t latest video. It was a lovely afternoon 🙂

Also, one of the shops on the uni campus sells these Lizzie’s vegan rocky roads which are YUMMY! I had two over the weekend – oops 😀

The other main thing I want to mention, before I talk about some randoms, is that I finally got a takeaway from Cinnamon Indian restaurant in Keynsham last night and omigosh… it was amazing. The locan vegan community has been raving about it for a while now and I’m not surprised. Every single dish on their menu can be ‘veganised’ by using either mock-chicken of vegetables, and even their naan breads are vegan. But what was so amazing about it was that it all tasted so authentic; EXACTLY like Indian takeaways I used to get years ago, before I even went veggie! Cinnamon is definitely going to be my takeaway of choice from now on, and I predict a dramatic change in my weight…

So that I’m not waffling on for too much longer, I’m just going to summarise the other things I’ve had recently: including oriental rice and a chocolate-cherry cake from The Planet Cafe in Taunton (which I visit every time I go to see my dad), BBQ cauliflower bites from Tesco, and lentil daal from the RWA cafe (where I now volunteer).

I am pleased to hear that Tesco is just about to expand their range of plant-based ready-meals – I’m sure I will by trying them very soon 😉

One of the reasons I’m not writing blog posts as frequently is because I’ve been busy applying to study a Primary PGCE, which I’m hoping to start next September. It’s been a hectic few weeks of getting school experience, doing UCAS and revising for the maths tests! Although my three choices aren’t set in stone yet, I think they are going to be: a SCITT course based near where I live, Bath Spa University, and Brighton University. That way, I have two choices where I can commute from home, and another choice in a city I know I already like. I will let you know about my progress in the next post, whenever that is…!
