New ready-meals and a lovely restaurant

I have been increasingly impressed with Sainsbury’s recently due to their expanding range of vegan meat substitutes. The other day I went back to my local branch and saw that they have another new range called “Love Your Veg” which consists mostly of ready-meals (something which can currently be quite limited for vegans). I got a sweet potato katsu curry, rainbow veg stew with dumplings, and some caremelised onion sausages (which are made from mushrooms but do not taste of them – perfect!)

Here they are in the chilled section:

Being cruelty-free really is getting easier every single day 🙂

Some more good news: Alex and I were in central Bristol again a couple of days ago after visiting friends. It was raining and we were searching for something to eat and struggling to think where to go. I quickly Google-Mapped “vegan” and a place called Roots Lounge popped up, which has only been open a month. We went there just in time to be served and had an absolutely delicious vegetable korma and some chai tea each (best I’ve ever had!) I also took some cakes away which also were lovely.

The funny thing is, when I looked up their web address just now to link here, their symbol looked familiar and I remembered that, back in January, I actually donated a bit of money on their JustGiving page when they were raising money to set up a new plant-based cafe! So I inadvertently visited the place I supported 😀 Well I’m glad I did, cause it’s amazing and I’m sure we will go back for many breakfasts, lunches and dinners in the future!

Delicious meals out :)

Wow it’s been almost a month since I last posted! Oops..

A lot of my time has been spent doing my second solo exhibition, which you can check out on my artist blog if you wish 🙂 But that is over now, so here I am again: https://jennybrockartist.wordpress.com/blog/

I have enjoyed some very nice meals out recently. I have already added all these places to my Shops & eateries page, so this is more of a ‘photo dump/new menu items’ post…

Firstly, Pieminister. I was delighted to find that they have added vegan mash, chips and a couple of new sides to the menu since I last visited! So this time, I enjoyed their Kevin pie, mash, mushy peas and gravy: a cruelty-free take on a classic meal, and it was very hearty 🙂 (Apologies for the poor quality photos; my phone camera is VERY dependent on good lighting)

Secondly, last week some time, my boyfriend and I finally visited a local restaurant called ‘Bonzo Lounge’, which is one of the Lounges chain and, like all their restaurants, has an extensive vegan menu. I ended up having a full breakfast at 7pm!!

Oh, and just a little interlude to mention how nice Clif bars are. Eat the chocolate fudge ones. Now. (Not sponsored. I wish…)

Lastly, we had a very enjoyable evening yesterday in central Bristol, having far too much popcorn at the cinema and then visiting Wagamama for a katsu curry. This time I had the one made with sweet potato slices and it was blummin’ lovely 🙂

Oh, and when we walked through Cabot Circus, there had been a vegan activism event going on and there was lots of chalk writing on the pavement:
